Ride The Tiger host a hot and happening night every Saturday at the Orbit Room.
The Orbit Room in Toronto, ON
Show starts at 10:30 pm, 19+, $8 cover
Every now and then, you owe it to yourself to get out and dance to some Motown classics. As luck would have it, you can do this in the best way possible: with a live band.
Ride The Tiger is a band busting out at the seams with fun and some of the best posters in the business. It's comprised of a group of guys who are sought-after Toronto musicians, involved in bands and projects from traditional jazz to hardcore punk to hip hop. But every Saturday night, they expertly pay homage to the best in soul, funk and R&B.
Kirt Godwin leads the group on guitar and vocals, backed by the rocking rhythm section of Jesse Labovitz (drums) and Ryan Gavel (bass). One of the most versatile guitarists in the city, Tom Juhas, plays those fine licks and Dennis Passley adds the sax that gives the punch to so many Motown songs. The bonus about playing the Orbit Room is the Hammond B3 Organ, and Ride The Tiger is frequently joined by special guests, the likes of whom have included Sean Nimmons, to take advantage of that bonus.
The Orbit Room is a unique little spot in Toronto, with it's stars and planets on the walls and ceiling. Concave mirrors add a spacey touch and there's just enough room from front to back to share the good times dancing.Connect: Facebook
