There's a whole lot more to this festival than just the theatre.

SummerWorks
   The Lower Ossington Theatre
Friday, August 5 through Saturday, August 13, 2011
Set times vary, $10

With a whopping two instalments behind me, I'm going to break my own rules this week. Instead of recommending a single show, I'm going to steer you toward an entire concert series.

If you haven't already heard, SummerWorks has popped up again for another great year in Toronto, even in the face of funding cuts based on very questionable grounds (find more details here in the Globe And Mail). So, beginning tomorrow night and stretching out over the next eight days, The Lower Ossingson Theatre will satisfy the musical facet of the annual arts festival, playing host to some of the area's most hyped up-and-coming artists (think talents like Steven McKay, Ruby Coast, Bruce Peninsula, and many more).

And you can trust that the artists in this festival deserve all of that hype. Having seen many of them perform in the past, I can put my hand over my heart and act all official when I tell you that these groups know how to put on a show. So, click here to take a look at the full line-up and then squeeze shows into any spare moments you can find. Because, for a modest ten bucks a ticket, you're bound to see more than a few acts there that'll be headlining at venues ten times the size before you know it.
