There's a lot to be said for word-of-mouth recommendations when it comes to music. One recommendation is good, but when I receive multiple recommendations from different segments of my social networks, it can result in me learning about something pretty cool.

As so it is with The Zolas. I think the first recommendation came from Donnie, and then over the next six months I received a number of similar recommendations. It turns out The Zolas share some musical affinity with their Vancouver friends Said The Whale, one of my favourite bands of 2009.
The Zolas are playing a FREE show at the Horseshoe Tavern tomorrow (Monday, June 14th) taking the stage at 10:00pm, along with We Are The City who will be on at 11:00pm. Even with the craziness of NxNE coming up, this show will very likely be worth the tiredness it inflicts. Check out the video (link below) for a taste of what we should expect.
