On the day of the release of his new book, 1982, Jian Ghomeshi invited hundreds and hundreds of his closest friends and colleagues to help him celebrate.
It was a huge party with endless faces from the media and music world, and packed with beautiful people everywhere you turned. The Arkells were there for the festivities, playing two sets of cover songs; the first set was a string of songs from the 1980's and the second set was of Motown. Musician after musician joined them on stage, including Lights, Kevin Drew, Liam Titcomb, Dave Bidini, Jason Collett, and Shad, but the best special guest was Jian himself joining the band on stage twice. He helped to start out the show by joining Max Kerman to sing a rendition of "Psycho Killer" (Talking Heads) to start of the night, and then was up on stage again later in the evening to perform a duet of "Ebony and Ivory" with Kim Richardson. The whole night was classy(ish), crazy fun, and pure Ghomeshi.
