Oldfolks Home stopped in Toronto at The Silver Dollar as part of a North American tour, only to discover that the venue was hosting a Toronto satellite night of Montreal's One Man Band Festival.

So, despite the whole band being present at the venue, only Ricardo Lopez-Aguilar (vocals, guitar) was on stage, performing solo some of the band's material from their excellent new album Black & Blue. Lopez-Aguilar was comfortable performing the songs with recorded backing tracks, but the full sound of the band that can be heard on the album was absent. I was definitely happy to hear him do a run through "Garland's Moving To Vancouver", and although I set out really hoping to hear "The Eyelids Behind Your Eyelids" with its Neil Young and Pink Floyd undertones, it is definitely a song that requires the whole band. Since they are from Winnipeg I'm not sure when we will see them here in Toronto again; they are currently still touring cities in the U.S. and Canada.
