It's no secret that The Darcys have a soft spot for the music of Steely Dan; they have been known to play "Home At Last" in concert.

That love was solidified when they chose to release a cover of the entire Aja album. Actually, the term "cover" is incorrect because what they really did was spend the time to reinterpret the album in the style of their own music, weaving the full spectrum of their influences and originality through the Steely Dan compositions.

Taking their passion one step further, The Dacrys recently completed a short tour where they took their reinterpretation of the Aja album to the stage. The live performance of the album was astonishingly tight, much more so than the recording that started it all. This was truly a labour of love, a tribute to great music of the past, all recomposed into the skillful sound of The Darcys.

In direct support of the The Darcys was a band called Rey Pila. When trying to describe their sound, the first band to come to mind was Men Without Hats. If Montreal was their home, that might not be surprising comparison, but it was a bit of a surprise to discover they were from Mexico City.
