Metric Returns With 'Synthetica'

Metric To Release Fifth Album, Synthetica
Article by: Natalia Buia

Metric by numbers: 4 members. 14 years active. 5 studio albums under their belt. 7598236 Juno Awards won. Okay, the latter is a slight exaggeration!

Many are excited to hear that Metric's fifth, full-length studio album, Synthetica, will finally see the light of day come June 12. The album artwork and tracklisting have just been revealed but you may be waiting a few more weeks to hear their first single, "Youth Without Youth" in full. The track will be available for digital download on May 1st.

On the band's website, lead singer and babe of all that is rock and roll Emily Haines wrote, "Synthetica is about staying home and wanting to crawl out of your skin from the lack of external stimulation... about forcing yourself to confront what you see in the mirror when you finally stand still long enough to catch a reflection... about being able to identify the original in a long line of reproductions. It's about what is real versus what is artificial." Prior to its summer release, fans can experience Reflections of Synthetica exclusively on their website.

After a whirlwind tour of the U.S. and Europe this summer, catch Metric at Osheaga in Montreal this August where it's certain they'll be performing a majority of new tracks.
