Now that 2009 is long gone, you probably think that all of the 2009 wrap-up articles should have stopped by now. Me too. For my blog, I created the Top 50 Albums Of The Decade (50-41, 40-31, 30-21, 20-11, 10-1), spent time writing up my Top 10 Albums of 2009, and even put together a list of Seven Great EPs from 2009, but still it felt like I was leaving something out.
So here it is, the last list I'll put together for 2009: Ten great songs from 2009 that you may have missed. As I listen to my "Best of 2009" playlist, I discovered there were quite a few individual songs on there, somehow separated from their albums. Songs that should be acknowledged. The order here is playlist order — an order that sounds good to me, with the excellent "Farewell Rocketship" from the Australian band Children Collide leading us into the set, and the late 60's (early 70's?) inspired "If You Want To" by Alligators closing it out.
