Amos The Transparent releases an album full of new, excellent songs to a crowded Horseshoe Tavern filled with fans.

Amos The Transparent

It has been a very satisfying few years following Amos The Transparent. I've seen the number of members shrink and swell, been out to many (many) of their shows, and now, finally, they have released second full-length album that truly captures their sound. To celebrate the new album Goodnight My Dear... I'm Falling Apart, Amos The Transparent has been on a small tour, with their stop in Toronto last Saturday bringing out fans both old and new to the Horseshoe.

Many of the songs on the new album have been played at past concerts, but the difference this time around was that a good number of audience members had obviously spent time with the new album, so the new songs weren't met with looks of unfamiliarity, but instead with cheers and singing. With the stage lightly decorated, and some additional lights added for effect, the band put the new Horseshoe sound system to good use. Highlights were spread out throughout the night, with the song "Says The Spark" early in the set (which I recorded on my iPhone, video below), "Sure As The Weather" just around the half-way mark, and then a three-pronged attack with "(Here's To) New Beginnings", "Convince The Mayor", and "Greater Than Consequence" to complete the proper set; it has become tradition that friends and fans get on stage to belt out the anthemic finish of "Greater Than Consequence", and I may have even been one of them this time around.

The two song encore consisting of "I'm On Trial" and "The Stale Scent Of Old Beer" morphed into a mass sing-along during both songs, with friends hanging onto each other while the band closed out the late night. Add one to my long list of great Amos The Transparent shows.

Brett Caswell and The Marquee Rose

It wasn't that long ago (at the MUSI launch party) that I saw Brett Caswell confirm he is, in fact, as amazing as everyone says he is. He was a great addition to the line-up this night and his music was an excellent complement to that of Amos The Transparent. Have I become a fan? Yes, quite a bit.
