What started as an Oh No Forest Fires reunion show at Sneaky Dee's turned into what felt more like a family reunion (minus the awkwardness, bad feelings, and drama).

The self-described "Toronto/St. John's/Brampton rock band" who became local favourites thanks to their high-energy live shows, catchy pop hooks, and cheeky lyrics, called it quits in early 2010 after playing their last show at the Horseshoe Tavern. From the selection of the opening bands, which included former tourmates Indian Handcrafts and Seas (members of Moneen), to a crowd which consisted of mainly family and friends, there was a great feeling of community as people packed in to see this one-off show.

For not having played together in over a year and a half, Rajiv Thavanathan (vocals, guitar), Adam Nimmo (drums), Brock Swanno (guitar, vocals), and Matt Del Buono (bass) were pretty sharp, playing songs from their first album The War On Geometry and their 2010 E.P. Wants To Try Something (which they gave away as a free download). The quartet careened and ricocheted off each other onstage like balls in a pinball machine, cracked jokes, and clearly looked like they were having a good time. Keeping with the night's theme of family, they also invited their friend and occasional ONFF collaborator Lesley Davies to provide backup vocals on several songs.

At one point, Thavanathan asked the audience how they were doing on a scale of one to ten, and got an enthusiastic bout of cheering. Ending with the 1-2 punch of "Swing And A Misdemeanor" and "Fighting Heidi" from The War On Geometry, the band had the audience singing the call-and-response choruses with gusto and raised beers. They then closed with an enthusiastic rendition of "Footloose" as they invited the crowd to join them onstage, which everyone was only too happy to oblige. If only all reunions were this joyous.
