The Dakota Tavern was buzzing as Elvyn kicked off their "Three Bands, Three Towns" mini-tour with friends The Ethers and Still Winter Hills.
Elvyn
The small, warmly-lit stage at the Dakota was a suitable backdrop for the mellow energy that spilled from Joel Beerman (vocals, drums), Ryan Beerman (vocals, guitar), Jason O’Reilly (bass) and Jeremy Knibbs (guitar). The band worked through tunes such as "Those Were The Days" and "Don’t Fall In Love" from their 2010 full length album, The Decline, exposing a handful of 60's rock influences, with some vocal harmonies hinting toward early Crosby Stills & Nash. The crowd swayed, and some even sang along, to the classic country song, "Nature Of Your Game."
With the Beerman brothers doing a solid job sharing vocal duties and O’Reilly and Knibbs keeping the energy flowing, Elvyn closed the set with what I consider their best song, “Lotta Lies”, and left the mostly polite semi-circle of listeners nodding in appreciation.
